On tap at American Flatbread. Pale golden and a little hazy. Smells grainy, fruity, and bready. Tastes about the same. Fruity malts. Peppery and spicy hops. Back end is pretty bitter. Not what I expected. Medium body. Estery finish. Interesting, but maybe not something I’d order again.

a very true to form take on a very uncommon style. i am a huge fan of the aussie ale yeast, and this is one of the few recipes to feature the delicious pride of ringwood hops, which i dont think get used enough as a flavor agent. a pale blonde beer with lots of body and head, and a bright cut grass aroma. the yeast has a neat flavor, its like slightly under cooked bread and dry, which works well with the light dry cereals in the grain composition. the hops and the yeast together are what make the style what it is, and they do a nice job here. i think its a little under hopped for my palate, and maybe a little too full bodied for all day drinking, but really nice to see one of these being made. when i make it at home, i also pitch champagne yeast in it. it finishes it even drier and adds a very unique estery thing, as well as some extra bubbles when done just right. this isnt missing that, but its a more simplistic version than some others out there.
