We brewed this brown ale with cascara coffee cherries – the husks of the coffee cherry where the bean originates before being roasted. Our good friends and neighbors at Brio Coffeeworks provided us with this special ingredient.

Dark reddish brown in color and clear, the head dissipated somewhat quickly. The aroma is sweet and malty with subtle fig/cherry notes. In terms of taste, malty and rich flavor gives way to detracting aftertaste undoubtedly from the cascara cherries which lingers at the back of the mouth. Nice carbonation and mouth feel. This was draught/growler poured. Decent enough to drink, but kept wishing I could try without the Cascara addition, or maybe reduced?... credit for interesting experimentation though!
