This Kettle Sour is brewed with Pilsner malt and organic strawberries sourced from local Vermont farmers. An addition of Lactobacillus provides a tart backdrop for the bright strawberry notes to shine. Light, refreshing, and wonderfully sour: this beer is a treat on a hot summer day.

A: The beer is hazy yellowish pink in color. It poured with a finger high off white head that had some pinkish hues and gradually died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of strawberries are present in the nose along with sour notes of lactobacillus.
T: The taste follows the smell but there the lactobacillus flavors are stronger, standing out in front of those of the strawberries and contributing some sourness and hints of lemony citrus.
M: It feels light-bodied and tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: It seemed like the aromas and flavors of the strawberries could have been a little stronger, but this has also been the case in most other beers that I have tried that used them as an ingredient. In any event, the beer was easy to drink.

Found myself looking for more strawberry flavor but it wasn’t there even with freshly canned beer. Strawberry and lemony notes, medium sourness, was just hoping for something to pop with strawberry over a blazing hot weekend but this felt like a familiar and not super inspired “sour” kettle type brew. Quenching but not particularly memorable.

I have NO idea where this one came from, but it makes for a welcome addition to The CANQuest (tm) on New Clear Out the Reefer Beers Sunday (Week 783).
From the CAN: "Sour Ale with Strawberries".
I was anxious to Crack! open the vent on this CAN since strawberries have become my favorite fruit, supplanting blueberries when I was a kid. I was not disappointed, either, since as soon as it happened, I could smell strawberries! Yum. I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug, but it was determined to give off a slight haziness. I also got a momentary two fingers of fizzy, foamy, soapy, bone-white head that quickly dissipated away to wisps. Color was an oh-so-faintly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose reminded me of the frozen strawberry waffles that I had for breakfast! Sour? Hardly. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium. The taste was tart, like strawberry lemonade, but quite pleasant. This would be more suited to June, when this year's (2020) Strawberry Moon is slated to ocCANur. It was not at all sour & only lightly puckeringly tart. It led me to CANtemplate having one of the aforementioned waffles as an acCANpaniment, which I did. It made for a very pleasant amuse bouche. Finish was tart and dry, an easy-drinking version of an AmeriCAN Wild Ale, which is how the brewery labels it. YMMV.
