Paul's Pils
Zero Gravity Craft Brewery

On tap at American Flatbread Burlington. Clear golden. Smells of spicy hops and some banana along with some doughy malt. Tastes nicely hopped. Aggressively grassy and spicy. Long bitterness and lightly sweet fruity finish. Light body. Too fruity, but not bad.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Had a 1/2 pint of this on 07APR12, during a visit with Alewife ($3.00).

My glass was filled with a bright golden brew. it had steady carbo, heading towards the short, white layer of foam up top. The head was thin and fine, leaving good lace behind. Aroma was a bit grassy, with hints of spiciness. Body was good, without much prickle attacking the tongue.

This Pils was a little crackery, with light sweetness; a good start to a style I rarely visit this side of the Atlantic. Hopping is solid, with some more grassy action. Like the aroma, it had a typical, spicy Saaz spice bite, with the finish being pretty dry. A well-made Pils; made me feel like I was back in Deutschland. Zum Wohl!

On tap poured into an 8oz glass.

Pours a very clear light yellow with a small white head. Nose is all sulfur and saaz, very nice.

Taste is refreshing and a bit bitter, there's a crisp finish and the sulfur lingers for a while. Taste is really sharp. Very reminiscent of the pilsners I had in Prague.

Served in a pint glass.

Pours a golden/yellow color with a thin white head with lots of little bubbles floating to the top. The aroma consists of lemon and a light malt. Fruity up front, orange cirtus flavors followed by a light malt with a lemony finish. Well carbonated, light bodied, leaves a crisp clean mouthfeel. Very refreshing pilsener, could be an all night beer.

Color: cloudy pale yellow with lively carbonation.

Aroma: light and malty. A bit spicy. Smooth. A bit dry.

Taste: Malty and lightly sweet.Very smooth and refreshing. Just a kiss of hops.

Mouthfeel: Dry and malty.Sweet.

Drinkability: Very drinkable. Recommended.

I couldn't get enough of this beer. A nice clear golden color with a nice fluffy head. Smell was mostly spicy hops with a few hints of grassy notes. Very few hints of malts in this one. Lots of hops explode on the palate with a good burst of carbonation. A biscuity-malty presence shows up much to my surprise to really balance out this beer. Finishes pretty balanced as well. Medium mouthfeel with big carbonation in this one. Loved this beer a lot.

Had on tap at the restaurant in Burlington. Clear golden sunshine when served, it came topped with a white skim coat of foam. Pretty low grassy hop aroma. The mouthfeel was excellent, the small tight carbonation really impressed me. Easy to drink, pleasant, some tartness in the finish. No overwhelming sweetness or grainyness...very very good.

Dark pristine golden with a very modest head of pure snow white mountain foam that lasts and provides the pint glass with excellent patterns of lacing. Aromas are amazing and purely simple yet complex. Saaz hops are in the mix right off of the bat with a lovely peppery tinge that hits the nostrils hard. The malts are fresh, bready and doughy and hold up the spicness of the floral saaz hops quite wonderfully. The taste is a wonderful combination of the simple flavors of the saaz hops and the Czech/German malts holding everything together. Starts off peppery and clean in the front with the malts doughy and thick in the middle before the Saaz flavor comes crashing back down in the drying finish that provides the drinker with an excellent aftertaste and whole cone saaz hop burps. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and perfectly full for a pils lending yet another degree of complexity and drinkability to this perfect paul's pils. Drinkability remains amazing, and pints of this refresh your system like only water, or superbly crafted pils can! Really seems czech to me, but perhaps it is German? Either way i've only had on pils better than this one (Moonlights Reality Czeck) and I really can't see pilseners getting any better than these two. A real achievment from a very new pizzaplace/brewpub in Burlington. Man, Paul is one heck of a brewer. Congrats my friend on this crowning achievement!

Appearance: Golden with only a faint haze, fickle froth, but crackling bubbles emerging from the bottom of my glass.

Smell: Definite saaz nose, but perhaps a bit more flowery.

Taste: Bustling carbonation, it was smooth, but not at all watery, and went really well with the pizza served at the pub. Easily the best pils I had all weekend, and perhaps second-best only to some of l'Amère a boire's offerings, for brewpub pils at least.
