Alewife and I hit the Burlington Hearth for dinner on 17APR09. A pint of Calamity was my pre-meal choice for imbibing (while Alewife had the Discombobulator).

My shaker glass was filled with a medium-copper colored fluid, with a touch of haze clouding it up. Not much carbo espied within, and the head was thin, fine and white, etching lovely lace on the glass. The nose was robust, with plenty of citrus and rindy notes hitting the nostrils. Solidly medium in body, Calamity was also solidy smooth with not touch of prickliness at all.

The malts present here lay down a bit of mild sweetness, with some toasty aspects also hitting the palate. Biting grapefruit rind flavors attack, with piney resins coating the tongue. These lupulins (Warrior, I believe) linger long and hard, making this one solid IPA. Yet another well-made Zero Gravity offering. Prosit!

Pours a dark amber color with a two-finger head.

Aroma is full of biscuit malt upfront and is somewhat fruity.

Taste is smooth with a nice amount of biscuit malt and light hops upfront. Very subtle. Very British.

Mouthfeel is full of biscuit malt and hops that linger. Smooth. Carbonation is just right.

This is more of a British-style IPA with american hops. Very drinkable and mild.

Served on cask at the Hearth, dry hopped with Cascade hops.

Pours an opaque-like haze amidst a glowing, dirty copper in color. A creamy white head leaves ringed lacing around the tumbler. Bright notes of citrus and faint pine with mild diacetyl laced toasted malts. Bright, ripe citrus hops with an undertone of pervasive floral hops. Balanced, both in flavor and body. Smooth with a very quaffable quality.
