Off the tap at the brewing co this so-called 'India Pale Lager' was a copper color with a chestnut meniscus and a good amount of rising carbonation. The head was beige, one-finger thick, retained as a thin collar and left consistent lacing. The aroma was very light, dry bready malt and a touch of 'cellar' was all I could detect. The flavors were better defined and (surprisingly?) quite balanced. I tasted the sweetness first of caramel malt and toasted malt followed by the rooty bitterness of hops in the middle. Dry, pleasant and it was equal parts malt and hops. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body medium and the carbonation light. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this hybrid style but I truly enjoyed it and would enjoy the opportunity to try another for comparisons sake.

Yes, otherwise known as I.P.L, this is an india pale lager.
Pours a mild to dark amber color with a one-finger head and ample carbonation.
Aroma is smooth and bready. A bit sweet. Light hop aroma in nose.
Taste is full of graininess/bready malt with a light hop kick. Chewy. A bit sweet.
Mouthfeel is full of lingering chewy, bready malt and light hop bitterness. Nice.
An interesting take on a lager using more hops. Very drinkable and you should check it out.
