16 ounce can into willi becher glass, canned on 2/8/2022. Pours opaque pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with great retention. Lingering lace cap and nice spotty soapy lacing down the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark bread, wood, herbal, grass, and pepper. Flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, dark bread/crust, toast, nuts, pine, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, light coffee/smoke/molasses/char. Light-medium pine, woody, charred bitter finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Very creamy/silky/bready malts/lactose, lingering sticky hop and chalky roasted drying. No acrid/astringent flavors. Great lactose body and texture. Rich malt complexity, minimal warming 5.7%. Very clean finishing, and refreshingly easy drinking. Fantastic style example all around.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown + dark amber colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall creamy sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + dark + toasted + slightly charred + caramel + chocolate malts with light to moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. Moderate aromas of cacao nibs/cocoa and a light aroma of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + dark + toasted + slightly charred + caramel + chocolate malts with light to moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of cacao nibs/cocoa. Finally there are light flavors of earthy hops. There is a light to moderate amount of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth, almost creamy.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a smooth mouthfeel on the lighter side for a stout. Enjoyable traditional milk stout with a moderate amount of chocolate notes. I could easily have a few of these and it is definitely a throwback chocolate milk stout not the dessert versions you find mostly today.
