not even sure when or where I got this but I've definitely had it for a while. decided to pop a few things taking up space and this one fit that bill.

dark sour...nose is overwhelmingly sour. taste is that of a mediocre flanders. little dry but mostly lacking flavor and personality. kind of like soured water. not my thing.

Appearance: Pours a mahogany color capped by an ecru head that quickly grows rocky; splashes and streaks of lacing abound

Smell: Lactic dark cherry, funk and oak

Taste: Lactic dark cherry forward, with growing funk; the malt from the Buckshot amber is slightly discernable through the middle, with the oak influence and sour tones building through the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body and creamy; moderate carbonation

Overall: Loved the 2012 and was slightly disappointed by the 2013; the 2014 is a much more complex brew and will likely age nicely as the funky aspect develops

Thanks to mrbubbler for sharing this one at his tasting.

2014 vintage.

Pours a hazy brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour with grain, fruit, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour malt, fruit, and acidic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an aroma that has slightly better sour aspects than the taste.

Serving type: bottle.

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a medium reddish brown color with a 1/4 inch tan head that retains a bit before becoming a paper-thin ring around the edge of the glass and nearly no surface foam. Non-resilient lacing leaves tiny specs behind.

S- Big sour cherry aroma with a nice dose of lactic acid and funk.

T- Total sour cherry bomb with a near-perfect amount of puckering tartness. Definitely more on the dry side with some red wine-like tannins coming through.

M- On the higher end of the sourness scale with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- This beer is hitting right where my sourness threshold stands presently and it's awesome. It's right on that border of being tongue-numbingly sour but still lets all the bright fruit notes through.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter, the beer is a dark, vibrant, ruby coloring with no head. Nose of tart red grape, grape must, sour funk, woody and earthy tones, and a blend of dark cherry and berry sweetness. Flavors are very tart cherry and grape forward, with raspberry notes, solid sour funk, tannins, woody highlights, and some dry red wine notes. Light, dry, crisp body, with a tart, berry, and old-world fruit sweet aftertaste. The finish is dry and crisp. Solid beer!
