A nice Scottish ale, I had 3 with friends and appetizers. First I have seen this at Natty's.

Scottish 90 or 100? Natty's usually posts the ABV on their table tops, but not this one. I would cut back on the gravity and let it settle back to more of a session beer. I am guessing it is 50+ points and should be no more than 42 points of gravity. Nitro or firkin conditioning would be interesting twists.

Pours a deep amber with off white lasting head. Aroma is malt and peat. A little too much smoke for some tastes. Over time the smoke becomes more prominent.

Great with spicy food.

An enjoyable beer non the less...

On-tap at Natty's.

My pre-golf outing evening was spent with AKSmokedPorter at Natty's for some well-deserved post-work / post-RIC-GSO drive. I was stoked to see the Plaid Peat on and quickly requested a pint.

Amber-tinted brown in color. Barely any lace at all. Nada on the lacing of the glass as well. Aromas are thin. Malty sweetness with a twang of smoke. Flavor is quirky as well. Really tough to pick up much with this one. Everything seemed muted. Dash of earthy notes and some sweetness. Bland aftertaste as well. One pint was more than enough. After that, we switched to Natty's Pale Ale...and that was much better. Even AKSP couldn't believe this was the same beer he'd had before...

Poured a deep chenut brown with a tight one finger head that settles leaving only a trace amount of lace behind,to be expected aromas fully malt tilted, like the AK I picked up a touch of smokiness with a wet grain quality as well.Toffee and a touch of caramel but not overly sweet in the flavor department nice smooth mouthfeel not to light it goes down quite easily.Alot of American brewers wanna brew the big "Wee Heavy" but there are a few examples Burns Scottish and Guid Scottish from Sly Fox are two good examples to go along with this one,a quaffable Scottish ale not enough of them.Well done.
