Had this on Friday, Dec 17 2010. Stopped by the brewpub on the drive back up to NY. Review from notes.
Poured a dark brown with deep mahogany hues. A short-lived head of light beige, left scant lace and trails of bubbles. This is a beautifully aromatic brown ale with hints of leather, smoke, and chocolate with a definite pumpkin/squash aftertaste. Sweet underlying tones of caramel and cereal grain. The pumpkin is quite apparent in the aftertaste, but rather masked by the initial leather, roast, and smokiness. This is one of the best tasting pumpkin beers I've ever had. I'll definitely buy a growler of it to take home.
