This beer does a very good job of balancing that heftier rye flavor with some resinous hop. Some good spice notes from the rye, bready malt presence but finishes with a hop punch.

This CAN, along with the previous one and the next, were gifted to me by a brewery rep at the end of FlavorPA, an annual event at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex which showcases PA CANsumables, from dairy to baked goods to F F & V to poultry, beef and all washed down with our beer. I (mostly) love being back in PA as a lifelong Pennsylvanian and U.S. Navy veteran!

From the CAN: "Improving our local watersheds one beer at a time."; "5% of all sales support the estern Pennsylvania [CAN]servancy's work for cleaner rivers and streams. S[CAN] Your C[AN!"; "Enjoy responsibly & Please Recycle".

I had just Crack!ed it open when it began to gush out of the vent. I quickly picked it up and placed it into the waiting glass to give it a chance to calm down. Once things seemed to be in order, I CANtinued with a gentle Glug, netting me two fingers of foamy, tawny head with decent retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had the peppery bite that is the hallmark of rye. My mouth was watering unCANtrollably at this point! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was of mint, black pepper, biscuit malt. Mmmm. This is the sort of beer that acts as a bridge between APAs and AIPAs since it was not really one or the other, but as a hophead, I really dig it! Finish was dry as one might expect from a beer that inCANporates rye malt. It left a tickling minty, black pepper taste in my throat. More, please!

A nice rye beer. Nothing overly showy or crazy, but solid enough. A pleasant drinker.

This is a mildly hoppy yet crisp beer that isn't overpowering.

Pours a medium amber color with a white head and lacing. Aroma is spicy and full of caramel and grain. The flavor has slight peppery Rye and big caramel. Thin body hurts it for me. Kinda flat but the flavor is nice. With more carbonation the flavor would be more vibrant. Not bad but could be great with a little tweaking.

A medium dark slightly red pale ale not much of a smell has a slightly bitter after taste very little hop. The taste is not overwhelming so I could eat with it.
