English Barleywine? This is a Wee Heavy no doubt about it,came in a standard pint glass a darker brown with some reddish amber tint a thiiner slight off white head atop. Not real big aromas but malt tilted for sure I picked up some alcohol dipped dark fruit and brown sugar in the nose mainly.I let the beer warm a bit to get the whole effect and some nice malt charcter and alcohol really came out dark fruit and brown sugar and hefty breadiness showed thru a good alcohol burn hitting late and lingering. The brewpub only allows two per person and no growler fills if that doenst tell ya anything,a good beer to cut thru the cutting early spring wind.

"A Scotch Ale, not to be confused with a Scottish Ale, this beer is maltier (sweeter) and a lot stronger in alcohol content"
Sampled at the brewpub.
Pour is dark red, with a light tan head, not much lacing.
Smell is full of smoke, peat and sweet maltiness.
Taste is much the same, almost like a good scotch (duh), fuity too and a nice touch of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, not quite cream, but rather rich.
Drinkability is good, this one could definitely catch up to you if you aren't careful.
