Pours a hazy copperish color which when held to light is closer to red. There is a tight one finger off white head which receds to skim and leaves rings of lace all the way down the glass. The aroma is of caramel malt and a hint of dark fruits. The taste starts out with a big sweet malt taste. It is a good flavoring. Next is the caramel malt and a hint of dark fruits at the end. Good but not overly complex. The mouthfeel is lowly carbonated and a touch on the flat side. Overall it was solid. It is very drinkable with no hint of booze present. I believe the board said 8.6 abv but could be incorrect.

"Our brewmasterÂ’s version of old ale, A.K.A. strong ale. The malty characteristics mask the alcohol flavor. "
Pour is dark red brown, smallish tan head.
Smells of dark fruits, especially cherry.
Taste is smoky and fruity, more of that tasty cherry-ness in the nose coming through in the flavor. Really good.
Mouthfeel seems kind of light for the style.
Drinkability is good, perhaps due to the lighter body. Pretty tasty beer, a good one from NC.
