Had the coffee porter ontap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown bordering on black color. Off white, tan colored foam forms and leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma of dark roast coffee, chocolate malt, charcoal and espresso.

In the taste, bitter dark coffee, charcoal, roasted malts, some grassy/leafy hop bitterness, and chocolates. Definitely has a strong coffee presence, drinking this beer actually perked me up substantially. Word would have it that the owner of the brewery is in the works with a coffee cafe that would serve freshly roasted beans. This beer may be a precurser to that.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, a bit thin, yet still managing to be creamy and soft on the palate. Coffee flavors linger into the finish.

Overall, this is a very nice coffee porter, and without a doubt, rediculous amounts of coffee were probably used in brewing this beer. Quite tasty, and assertive.

Poured from a growler into my Samuel Smith Imp. pint glass. I first sampled this beer in a sample from the brewery. I was not expecting much from this beer. It poured dark almost black. Strong scents of mocha and coffee. Thick, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Very strong coffee flavors. Very drinkable, it would be very easy to drink a couple pints of this. A great beer, I hope I can get another growler of this.
