Dark brown, not pitch black but close. thin 1/2 finger of brown head. Good lacing and retention.
Smell is good. Rye, chocolate malt, yeasty breadiness here. Overall nice balanced aroma.
Taste is awesome. Chocolate flavors from malt, and coffee esters (also from malt). Rye doesn't jump out at you but it came to the party. Mostly chocolate roasty flavor. The 'smoked' part of this adds a balanced coffee note. Damn good brew. This middle is the best part.
Finish is a bit dry with notes of roasted malt, chocolate malt, a subtle finish hops accurate to this style rounds off the mocha flavor.
