Another quality brew available at last week's Festival of Barrel Aged Beer at the Goose Island Brewpub in Chicago, IL. Listed as an IPA, it is actually a blend of several beer styles. It is described as, "A blend of IPA, American Amber and Double CA Common, dry-hopped, aged in whisky barrels and conditioned in stainless steel." Having said that, the beer is majorily an IPA with unique characteristics that the other beer (and whisky) imparts. A nice blend of styles. Toastedness and malt from the Amber, clean and mellow with ripe fruit from the Common. Overall, a well balance against the hopping from the IPA. Hazy peach - orange - copper with white, withstanding head retention. Fruity, spicy, and smooth against the palate. Finishes clean and moderately dry.
