Appearance: Good foam and lacing to match a nice solid black ale. Nice carbonation as well, but not excellent. A bit too bubbly, but still nice.
Smell: Balanced pine hops that goes with an excellent rye maltiness. Hints of fruit in the background with some great molasses sweetness.
Taste/Mouthfeel: The malty rye sweet in this goes extremely well with the pine hops. Wish it were a bit more hoppy though. Not the smoothest IPA, but it somehow fits the ruggedness of this beer.
Drinkability: Good, but a bit too intense for some. That said, I wouldn't say it delivers a sucker punch, but it is excellent.
Overall: An example of a style that I hope continues to grow.
