An organic beer by the brewery who has been elected Best French Brewery of the Year 2003 at the Salon de l'Agriculture. The head's close to perfection: thick, very dense, lasting and creamy. The body shows an almost transparent orange yellow color with a regular stream of bubbles in the middle of the glass. The smell was wheaty, which is surprizing as the label only states the use of barley. Intriguing. Citric with nice hints of wood, or more exactly aromas of the wood, like the forest. Some nicely balanced hoppiness. Spicy, maybe cinammon. The taste is enjoyable: citric and fruity, it reminded me of a plum pie with cinammon, and that's something good. Maybe very light hints of caramel. Still this idea of wood. This may be my favorite organic beer ever. Very subtle aromas and flavors. The hops are enjoyably fruity and herbal and add complexity to the brew without reducing its drinkability. The high level of carbonation doesn't take off the beer's qualities. Very complex for a lager, very tasty.
