Shark Attack Pale Ale, this just appeared and is in all the liquor stores in Santa Barbara area.
Bottle says it is "Crafted & Bottled by Shark Attack Brewing, Gilroy, CA USA." The Phone Number on the bottle is (818) 706-3410 that is a Northern LA Area Code. It doesn't say that Coast Range brews it but it is a pretty safe bet that it did.
Pours a chill hazed gold ale with a white head that died fairly quickly.
Smell is light and malty with faint pine and grapefruit hop scents. Faintly spicy with a faint aroma of black pepper.
Taste is light and a little sweet without any strong ale flavor. Faintly citrus on the tongue with a decent hop bitterness in the finish. This gets progressively more bitter as you drink it most likely from over use of High Alpha Acid hops to save money.
Mouthfeel is average, very average.
Well this is drinkable but if you are expecting a West Coast Pale Ale you will be disappointed. This is a suitable lawnmower beer but it is not a good pale ale. Non-offensive to the point I have considered putting this in the cream ale category. The bottle says it is a pale ale and there are faint pale ale qualities so I will leave it as an APA. Completely dumbed down beer for tourists with a shark on the bottle.
