Same receipe as the since closed Lotsolox Brewing Company in the same town of Gilroy, California. This is a fresh bottle, same 650ml with same label as the retired, only brewed by Coast Range Brewing. I guess they've continued the line of 'Bagel Beers'. Good thing too! Thanks HogTownHarry for sharing this!
Pours pretty much opaque less some dim highlights. Not much head, white spots here and there. Crazy aroma with a surprising and unique aroma, certainly something extra in there - bagels?! Coffee and pumpernickel mostly. More burnt than roast but not aggresive. Good deal of dark malts. Wow fantastic flavour and mouthfeel. A toasted bready taste, with strong coffee, dark bakers chocolat, a bunch of oats. This would make a great "Breakfast" stout (err, porter).
I'll admit I'm not sure what went on with Lotsolox Brewing or how I have a fresh bottle of this from Coast Range, but I'm sure as hell happy I do. I could have a bomber of this to myself anyday, a fantastic offering. I hope to try the whole lineup. Find this and support the brewer! What an idea, what a beer.
