Again, an Elk Head beer suffering from potent contamination by bacterial elements. A few bright sugary notes and an essence of root beer somehow manage to poke through the smell of spoilage. The rest of this would-be Scotch ale can be characterized as burgundy-brown, thin bodied and overly peated. ItÂ’s also slightly astringent. And oddly enough, the beer does nothing to quench your thirst. Afterwards I craved water.
