Brewed with ginger, ginseng, and 10 pounds of dandelion per batch, Elk Dandee assumes the color of dandelion flowers and the taste of candied ginger. I was told the beer is "about 10% ABV", requiring a high-alcohol 10-oz serving size, but the beer seemed milder than this. In fact, it tasted more like a gentle summer beer with pleasing spice character. Even the bittering seemed more herbal than hop-derived. The few notes of cider-like acidity didn't seem out of place.
Carbonation was limited to a solitary stream of infrequent bubbles. But Dandee was intriguing and worth investigating.
