Elk Head has a reputation for experimentation with local flora. This pale ale brewed with nettles (presumably stinging nettles) is their most prominent herbal brew. It is headless sunflower-yellow with minimal CO2 and no particular aroma.
But its taste is of honey-water sweetness with a satisfying herbal flavor that I might have guessed belonged to dandelion. The nettles supercede any perceivable hop contribution. Though not dazzling, Sting Ya is a successful experiment with a local Northwest earthiness worthy of a sample or two. Its principle detraction was its flat body.
