A type of ale made without hops, this beer is instead "spiced" with rosemary, myrica gale, and yarrow. Evidently, gale contains toxic flavonoid glycosides. Yumm. Frontal labotomy...bottle in front of me? Hrmmmm. Cloudy, dark brown without a head with no retention or lace. Aroma is minty, with notes of sage, ginger, and sasparilla. Taste is extremely herbal, spicy with alternating bouts of malt and medicine. Dry with a lasting malty finish. Mouthfeel is very syrupy and cloying with a potent kick of alcohol. Different, interesting, but not at all drinkable.
