one of those big sweet india pale ales that is well enough done, but sort of falls in with the crowd, which is growing quite large in this style. its golden and mostly clear, with a white head thats doesnt really seem to want to stick around. honey sweet nose and clearly hop driven, but hardly at all bitter. its resinous and sticky, but this is all too familiar. the malt profile is a little too light for it. the hops arent supported or balanced, and you end up with a beer thats tough to drink because of its lopsidedness. less body than it needs, less bitter than i think it should be, and while the hop flavors are forward and fresh, it lacks the intangibles. the all too familiar wynkoop ale yeast bores me these days too, and it makes an impression on this beer. in many other contexts this is a solid big ipa, but for me it left a bit to be desired. i hope they keep it on though, ive always thought they needed a few more hop driven offerings at the pub.

The bartender was kind enough to give me an extra sampler of this to try without even ordering it. Had no idea that a beer called Humiliation Lipgloss would be a DIPA.

Interesting execution. This is significantly less hoppy and more malty than their Mile H.I.P.A. Some slight bitterness, some slight citrus, but big waves of sweet malts.

If you're a fan of balanced IPAS/DIPAS, perhaps you would enjoy this more than I did. Not bad, but it really would be hard to guess this was a DIPA if you weren't told ahead of time.
