this is a delicious new one off from wynkoop, who recently cancelled their canned beer program to focus on this kind of limited stuff for their taproom, which, as much as i will miss colorojo, i think is a good move for them. this is a cask conditioned english bitter ale dry hopped with sorachi ace, which is one of my favorites. the beer is super low alcohol and really smooth from the cask, i absolutely loved it, and would have made a night of it if they didnt have so many other interesting beers on the menu. its just the slightest bit hazy, with a tall white head on it, airy but slow and patient. it smells more like a bitter in the classic sense than a sorachi ace bomb, the english ale yeast and the more traditional hops are more obvious in the nose, but its light enough on the malt to show a little of that lemon flavor, hints of dill and cut grass freshness too. the flavor is awesome, sort of inseparable from the mellow smoothness of the whole thing, the sorachi is much more prominent here, and its new to me in the context of english malt and hops, a more traditional old world style with a crazy hop like this is pretty uncommon, and the beer is just delicious. the low alcohol is nice too, sort of skirts the line of being a mild ale too, with a classic english malt profile beneath the hops. overall one of the more unique beers i have had from these guys. if you havent been here in awhile, check it out again, the menu has improved on the food and beer side rather significantly...
