time to bring this one out of retirement because it is back on tap at wynkoop! pours a cocoa brown color with almost no head at all. smells only moderately smokey, with more of a milk chocolate and roasted malt aroma coming through. flavor isnt very smokey at all (the server described this as a smoked porter). plenty of dark malts and just a touch of bitter hops at the end. there is also a chocolate milk taste going on as well. the feel is just okay. carbonation is lighter than i think it should be, and the body is more full than i am used to in a porter. something about that mixture doesnt work here. overall its a decent porter, but its not what it claims to be. im so-so on this one.

Pours black/brown, topped with a one finger creamy dark khaki head, leaves rings of lacing with bits of webbing connecting them trying to make a sheet.
Coffee, malt, and chocolate notes make up the aroma.
Coffee and chocolate taste, some roasted/burnt malt, and it's a bit sour and acrid.
Medium to full bodied, creamy and smooth.

Almost black in color with a brownish head, the porter looked great. But that was the best feature. The aroma was boring, expecting at least a tinge of roasted malt but it did not arise from the glass. The taste left me wanting more, as little coffee overtones barely excited my tongue. I expected more of a roasted maltiness, but it was generally weak. I drank this rather quickly since it was by far one of the lighter porters I have ever had on tap. After finishing my sense was this was brewed to appease the public.
