Most of the DIPAs I've had feel syrupy and oily, and resin dominate. This one is a well balanced DIPA, not in the sense of, say, DFH 90, but balanced between hops and citrus.
Clear pour, dark amber and clean. Looks bright. Semi-rocky head, nice lacing.
Hops in the nose. Citrus with a snap of pine and juniper. Soft malt/biscuit.
Tastes great. Blends of pine and citrus hops, sprinkled on a light toast. Persimmon and light stone fruit. Clean and crisp without the oiliness or syrup-like texture.
Easy drinking. I think Wynkoop's best beer, next to the old Silver Back Porter

Served in a small snifter.
A: Hazy amber with light carbonation. A rocky and dense apricot tinged cap has nice retention and leaves substantial lace.
S: Lots of citrus in the nose. Grapefruit and lemon are there in equal force. Letting the nose lingers reveals some cumin and pepper spice.
T: Hop flavor is strong and dominating, but the bitterness isn't too over the top. The hop aromas carry into the flavor nicely. A very light toasted malt flavor can be tasted way in the background. Gets a little metallic toward the end. Finishes with a long lingering citrus bite.
M: The body is oily and has just about the right level of fizz.
D: This is a nice DIPA. I liked that a heavy hop flavor was achieved without an out of control level of bitterness. An overall solid effort.
