imperial red ipa brewed in collaboration with the homebrewers association. pours a very dark red smokey color with a short white head. smells like fresh resinous hops, lots and lots of hops. pine notes dominate, but there are some zesty lemony hop aromas as well. flavor is major bitter hops up front, with a mellow, slightly smokey, earthy, semisweet malt middle which i absolutely love with this beer, and a very flavorfoul oily hop finish, with some strong alcohol resonance too. feel is good, fuller bodied but drinkable, moderate carbonation. this has a bright feel to it despite its depth. overall a very good beer, hopefully they will brew this again. i cant imagine why this beer hasnt gotten more attention, its excellent.
