Bottle conditioned. Cellared for two years. Almost black with a thin creamy head. Lacing is present and temporary.
A full rich aroma of dark stoned and vinous fruits along with roasted malt. Stewed prunes and figs.
Tastes like a sweetened and muted version of the aroma.
Smooth, viscous but with very little carbonation. Full in body.
The bouquet was the highlight. Tastes more like an English Old Ale rather than a stout. Expected coffee and chocolate has disappeared during aging. The loss in carbonation was a real downer. The booze was present but well hidden. Despite this it was highly enjoyable.
