This is basically a knock-off of Big Rock's Grasshopper, with the added bonus that at least it avoids the worst of Big Rock's trademark weird, funky yeast. It's clear, gold, anemic yellow in colour with even more anemic head. Smelling slightly of lemon and clove and maybe a hint of banana. Surprisingly dry, with an innocuous taste that goes down nicely but isn't hugely memorable.
Brewster's can do good things. This, however, is rather "meh".

Ordered at Calgary location (why are the Brewster's beers all divided up by location? Do they actually vary much from location to location? I think they are all from the same source). No goddamn lemon wedge. Pale straw beer with minimal head and clear appearence. Aroma of fresh bread, subtle citrus and other fruit notes, maybe a hint of wheaty spice. Smells fresh and bright but mellow. Palate follows the nose, albeit more unassuming and veering towards the bland. I get a bit of lemony citrus, a whiff of clove and dry dusty peppercorns, minimal hop character, a nondescript sourness and a bone-dry finish. Too much carbonation. Obviously a great thirst quencher in hot weather but underachiever when it comes to flavor and overall effect. Might be better unfiltered.

from recent notes
A - Clear golden, thumb of head retained respectably
S - Bready grain, light bubblegum and adjunct
T - Grainy and leafy, some adjunct, and slightly metallic
M - Light and slightly crisp, only mildly bready
O - Just doesn't have the flavour or feel of a quality wheat ale, drinkable enough to pound a couple back at the pub but no worth putting a bottle in the fridge

500ml bottle poured into pint glass 4/3/12
A clear pale yellow with lots of tiny bubbles feeding a thumbs width of dense foam that leaves a few patches of lace
S grainy lemon and some thrills gum
T dry cereal comes out a little more and the thrills gum is gone, pretty basic stuff but I don't mind it
M those tiny bubbles feel just a little prickly and a fairly light refreshing brew with a pretty clean aftertaste
O perhaps better suited for a hot summer day but a decent beer either way but nowhere near mind blowing
Brewsters makes plenty of decent but basic brews like this one and the occasional winner, at least the beers you need to sift through to find the gems are at least decent

20oz 'real' pint at the Edmonton Oliver location.
This beer appears a barely hazy, pale golden yellow hue, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and soapy off-white head, which leaves some pretty consistent coral reef lace around the glass as things steadily drop away.
It smells of laid-back wheat grain, white grape juice, faintly acrid yeast, and subtle, yet appreciably sweet citrus. The taste is more light, grainy, and moderately sugary wheat grain, a bit of clove and black pepper spice, now ethereal citrus, and some mildly gritty yeast.
The carbonation is moderate, just a tight fizziness throughout, the body a fairly solid medium weight, perhaps a tad oily, but generally smooth. It finishes a bit off-dry, the yeasty wheat grain predominating.
Nothing overly complex here, but that's all right - it's light and refreshing, even if its overall flavour is mostly subdued. Plain summer patio drinking, in the same vein (and market segment) as local favourite Grasshopper.

Pours pale clear yellow with white head. Smell is faint but wheat is noticeable. Taste - a little too malty for me for a wheat ale, but still wheaty and that is pretty much it. It's pleasant but nothing special. Very light and very crisp. Extremely drinkable. Not bad.

Served with a lemon wedge, which was discarded onto the patio table. Was served with a clear bright golden appearance, and a small creamy white head. The aroma was faint, I picked up some mild spices, but otherwise there wasn't much to it. Slightly tart flavour, with a bit of citrus zing to it, yet it seemed very subdued. The mouthfeel was close to medium-bodied, it was quenching, I'll give it that much. A fairly mediocre wheat ale, unfortunately it seems to be wanting to try and mimic Big Rock's Grasshopper.

An average wheat all around, sight, smell, taste, nothing distinguishing. Definite wheat taste. Serviceable malt, Hint of fruit. Easy mouthfeel until the overcarbonated finish. Lace in glass. Serviceable summer-fall drink. Of course, say no to leon wedge.

1L brown plastic bottle with screw top cap. Poured in a pint glass (twice).
Clear, straw yellow colour. Big foamy 1.5 inch white head. Good head retention, thin head at bottom of glass. No carbonation bubbles. Some thin lacing.
Aroma is very mild. Next to nothing. Perhaps a little grainy scent.
Sweet and grainy with a hint of hop bite. Nothing really impressive here. Basically no aftertaste while the beer is cold, but as it warms an off, ill tasting aftertaste develops.
Mouthfeel is thin, watery and a little fizzy. Same unsatisfying feel of a macro.
There really isn't anything offensive or wrong with this beer, but it really is uninspiring. Mild flavour and aroma, but looks decent and goes down easy. Wheat ales are quite popular at brewpubs in this area, and my guess would be that this is what they use to get the masses to drink their brews instead of a macro. Drinkable, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get one.

Although much better and fuller on tap, I tasted this from the 600 ml bottle Brewsters is now selling.
It pours straw honey coloured, pale, golden light yellow. Nothing unique or exceptional. I had to pour very quickly to be able to make any head, and even then it was a centimetre which rapidly became a faint ring about the glass. Very white head, with better lacing than the head may suggest. The aroma at first was not very appetising: stale, watery smelling. It does get better as the beer warms, but it is still quite watery, and somehow extract-like. I do smell berries, wheat and slight hop, but nothing really stands out. Very basic aroma. The taste is thirst quenching, but simple. Up front there is some honey character, some fruit, in the middle slight alcoholic and sour tastes, and on the finish the wheat malt appears, but tastes slightly sour, almost adjunct-like(though I do not think Brewsters uses any adjuncts or additives). Grainy aftertaste. Definite citrus and some great fruitiness save it from being overly bland. The carbonation is better than average, crisp yet not overly so. Although this is very drinkable, it is due mostly to its watery feel in the mouth. Thirst quenching, yes, but exciting or unique, no.
