8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - this is made at the Calgary brewery, but I'm not holding my breath for Brewsters listings consolidation happening anytime soon.

This beer appears a clear, dark amber-highlighted brown colour, with a thin cap of wispy and bubbly tan head, which leaves some random streaky and splotchy lace around the glass as things evenly move along.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, crunchy peanut butter, bittersweet cocoa powder, some free-range ashiness, and very subtle earthy, musty, and dead floral hops. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, peanut oil, medium chocolate wafers, cafe-au-lait, some indistinct earthy nuttiness, and more well-understated leafy, herbal, and musky floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its workaday frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a wee clamminess pretty much there from the onset. It finishes off-dry, the peanut essences showing their lingering mettle.

Overall - this comes across as a pleasant enough version of the sub-style. Not something that I would want a whole lot of, but it's a nice little treat on yet another Arctic-like day in Wild Rose Country. And probably other places too.
