Called 'Rob Walsh Classic Blue Belgian Ale, and made at the south side Calgary brewpub.
This beer appears a slightly hazy medium amber hue, with one finger of filmy off-white head, which leaves a wall of thin lace around the glass as it recedes. It smells of biscuity grain, and mild yeasty, spicy hops. The taste is crisp biscuit grain, a bit of toffee, some mild musty ash, earthy spice, and yeast. The carbonation is quite zingy, the body medium weight, with a slight edginess, and it finishes dry and crisp.
A nice, refreshing summery ale, with the Belgian influences kept quite mute. Apparently the 'Belgian Blue' breed of bull is large and muscled - thus an odd naming choice for this beer, other that the proclaimed association with the seasonal rodeo circuit.
