The latest seasonal offering, made evident to me only as I plopped my ass down at the bar, with expectations of celebrating International IPA day instead...
This beer appears a hazy medium golden hue, with one finger of soapy white head, which leaves a thin ring of lace around the glass in its wake. It smells of soft wheat grain, somewhat spicy rye, and citrusy yeast. The taste is edgy, dangerous rye malt, a lessened by default wheat graininess, mild earthy yeast, and soft musty hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body light and crisp, and kind of smooth. It finishes off-dry, spicy and zippy.
It walks and talks like rye, and well wrought at that. A balanced (it's the yeast, dummy), surprisingly refreshing rye beer. For summer - which means a heavily constricted time frame, for beer and patio alike.
