A happy hour industry pint at the Oliver location. Single hopped with Warrior hops, natch.
This beer appears a glassy, medium-dark bronzed amber hue, with one anemic finger of tightly foamy beige head, which leaves some nice pocked highland lace around the glass as things slowly drain away.
It smells lightly of mildly bitter orange and grapefruit pith, bready caramel malt, and a par for the course thus far, meek Pine Sol essence. The taste is a fair bit peppier, as the citrusy, bitter floral hops quickly morph into orange cream and tame perfume, with a bit of lemon-lime freezie, semi-sweet bready malt, a touch of toffee, and some ethereal pine notes.
The bubbles are present, perfunctory, and yet a wee bit sassy, the body a sort of wavering medium weight, but generally quite smooth. It finishes off-dry, but with a steady drying, somewhat bitter citrus/pine hum.
A nicely even-keeled IPA, the Warrior hop more than capable of fleshing out this offering; I especially appreciate the persistent, subtly growing bitterness towards the end.
