Bi-Centennial IPA presents yet another instance in which I had to double check to verify that Id been served the proper beer. This is an IPA? Wanna bet? This is a pale ale at best and not a showcase beer at that.
Bi-Centennial begins with a light bready aroma controlled by yeasts. The smell is pleasing enough though it fails the style and begs for an infusion of late-addition hops. The absence of hop aroma is startling, creating a beer that cannot even be thought of as an English-style India pale. Likewise, the flavor is dilute and yeasty with casual bittering and minimal hop flavor.
Despite the shortcoming of hops, the mouthfeel remains choked with tannins. I could go on but theres no point. Pass.
