Handsome clear amber with plenty of foam in the knobby glass. Pleasant fruity and piney aroma, with a touch of sage and alfalfa. Tangy mouthfeel with plenty of spritz. Slightly sweet to start with orange peel. This is the classic IPA style, with the hoppy flavors running from citrus to mango and back. Moderate bitter aftertaste. Flavorful and easy to drink, but no mistaking it for anything but an IPA. From the 12 oz can purchased at the brewery restaurant in Astoria. Dated AUG 1 2024.

not exactly a world beater, but not as old school as this place kind of presents itself as being, especially next to some of the more trendy operations in town. i found this balanced, drinkable, and more modern than anticipated light orange in color, unfiltered looking but not sloppy, with a low inch of white head from the tap, racing carbonation, and a light shine. it smells of melon rind, canned mandarin oranges, and a light toasted biscuity malt, balanced but bitter still, northwestern but not heaps aggressive. the flavor has a little sweetness running through it, still some malt flavor but the residual is kind of generic to me, and it seems to highlight something slightly less than neutral in the fermentation profile, not a huge deal, but this has a faintly soapy zizzle on the back end. the hop profile is nice though, not over done, subtle juniper, orange zest, and grassiness, and the bitterness helps crisp an off dry finish. good carbonation too and a light enough body to almost hit like a pale ale from this region. smells and tastes quite fresh, and while a half step less refined than it could be, i thought a nice brew, especially out on their patio. cool spot, fun beers.
