this is solid, i wish more american breweries made the milds, you just dont see them often enough. this is a tasty example of the style, chestnut hued with a half inch of tan cream head on top and good clarity in the red edges of this, the middle is more brown, even in high natural light. the aroma is nutty, baked, sweet, and fully grain forward, more fall than spring to me in terms of seasonality, but i get the english ale yeast and this comes across pretty deep and authentic, the darker side of the style for sure. the flavor has hints of almond, cola, toffee, baked biscuit, and long boiled grain richness all through it, bready from the yeast, not as sweet as it smells, and well rounded with the flavorful ale yeast element through the second half of it, slightly estery but drying and appropriate. the grain is earthy and fuller bodied than the low alcohol would suggest, and the hops are slight. smooth and without a ton of carbonation which gives this a little bigger feel, dried fruit on the swallow, nice malt layers. overall a pretty well made beer, true to style, and very drinkable. these guys impressed me for a brewery you dont hear much about...
