I had this during an event at the Sandlot coinciding with the GABF. This beer poured a light straw color with a bit of mass-produced-looking head atop it (medium-small bubbles, all identically sized). Aroma was light and a bit citrus-y. Taste was a metallic copper taste that I frequently associate with Kolsch-style beers. There was also some degree of the lingering maltiness that I associate with Dortmunders like Great Lakes and DAB which made this beer taste true to what I perceive the style to be. Mouthfeel was unremarkable. A pretty average beer far inferior to both Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold or a fresh DAB.

i am a bit confused about this one. i had it tonight at something brewery in brighton on tap there as a guest beer, and it was called move back, but was listed as an oktoberfest and absolutely was a marzen lager, not a dortmunder. perhaps they have recycled this name, sometimes breweries do that, maybe the bar had it wrong, i really dont know, but they make a darn good oktoberfest, whatever the name is supposed to be. its copper orangey colored, frothy headed in the cup, and with the right amount of malt density without being sweet or heavy, a good bit of flavor from the european lager yeast, and a patient ferment yielding some crispness here. its autumnal, perfect for a chilly fall day where the snow is actually beginning to fly, and its filling but drinkable at the same time, like only a sturdy marzen lager can be! lightly nutty, earthy, and baked, it checks all the boxes and ends up being another really well made lager from these guys, who still seem to get no credit whatsoever for this sort of thing, but this is well executed without a doubt, and if i had more time, i could have happily made an evening of these. time for me to get back down to the sandlot and have a couple pints! its been way too long...

On tap at the Rackhouse Pub in Denver, they always have at least one beer that i have never tasted. I will start by saying that I drink far more ales than lagers and am no expert on dortmunder exports (or any beer for that matter). Nice yellow color, decent lace, smells like a pilsner (kind of). The taste was a little earthy, crisp, really, really easy to drink. I really need to start studying lagers as this was enjoyable but much harder to describe than an ale usually is.

Had this one on tap today at the Rackhouse in Denver. Poured from the tap into a New Belgium tulip. Medium to dark golden, with a smallish white head. Aromas of sweet malt, grains, cereal. On the palate, crisp, clean and refreshing. A nice beer for a mid-afternoon college football game.
