On tap at the brewpub in lower downtown Denver. They called it a "Wheat Ale," and is supposed to be a Belgian style Wit.

A more amber color than most actual Witbiers, but a pleasant cloudy appearance. Head is modest, but carbonation lingers well. Sharp and tingly on the tongue, and a bit woody.

Pleasant nose of banana, not much cloves, and it tastes more like a Hefeweizen as well as looking like one. There is a substantial touch of bitterness. Light weight body but nice mouthful of flavor. Refreshing bitter aftertaste. Surprisingly tasty brew, whatever category it might fall into. [from notes on June 26, 2011 visit]

A: Pours a very cloudy yellow color. No head and no lace.
S: Light banana esters, but mostly and overpowering spice/clove aroma.
T: Overpowering spice and clove again, some peppermint. Cloyingly sweet. Light banana.
M/D: A very light body, thin, and almost under carbonated. Not hard to drink if you wanted to.

Just blah. Not a very well made wit at all. Get something else.

From the notes on the menu: "A Belgian style Wit Beer infused with sweet and bitter orange rinds in the kettle. We use both malted and unmalted wheat in this light rendition of the style. Fermented with a Belgian trappist yeast strain that lends spicy notes of clove and underlying fruity character."

My review: Had some interesting things in it and was a light refreshing version of the style.

A - hazy light yellow, white head

S - Citrus oil and Belgian yeast. Good, but not very strong, I wanted to smell more of what was there, let it warm up a touch to release it.

T - Started good but falls a little flat. I like the bitter orange rings with lingers nicely. Has the usual clove finish.

M - clean, good. Seems a little thin gravity wise. I'd be interested in what it would be like with a higher starting gravity, and/or a higher ending one.

D - OK, but not interesting enough for me to order another.

** Note: They opened up a restaurant inside Terminal A at Denver International Airport!! And the good thing about DIA is that no matter what terminal you are in, you can travel to other terminals without having to leave and go through security again. So a great place to check out some beer on your layover. I asked the beer on tap there is brewed from the Downtown Denver Chophouse location.
