Picked this up at the Moscow beer festival, the only place I've ever seen it. Comes from a small town just east of Moscow that is famous for its pure drinking water, so knew there was potential. There products went down very well on tap at the festival, so I grabbed a bottle. 1.5liter brown plastic bottle with a fairly plain white and gold label giving the name and not much else. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Unpasteurized. Bottled on 7/10/04, best before 7/24/04, I opened it on 7/16/04.
Poured a clear slightly copper gold under a very thin and extremely short-lived off white head. The nose is nice, with light sweet caramel malt, a touch of fruitiness and a bit of smooth hops. The mouth is very light and somewhat pricky, but the feel is flat. The taste is definitely flat - was much better fresh on tap at the festival. There's clean crisp light malt and smooth hops here, with the sweetness ultimately winning out over the bitter. A bit watery, its clear that this is a good brew past its prime. The potential is definitely there.
