Consumed on-tap at C.I.'s for $3 (happy hour price). Served in a frosted 20oz Pilsner-style glass.
Colored a very dark shade of rown, with a big tan head that took it's time subsiding and left a ton of lace behind.
Roasty scented, with a subordinate brown sugary sweetness also in the nose. Not overly complex smelling, but certainly within the style.
The flavor starts off with a coffee-like roasty bitterness that is then joined by a mild, chocolaty sweetness. As Redrover has observed, this takes on a sweeter, nutty taste if allowed to warm.
The body is a little light for the style, but not to a disastrous degree. Mouthfeel is a little watery for a porter, but again not to a disturbing level.
A very sessionable porter. I don't imagine the abv is too high. Years ago I had what was one of the last bottlings of this porter before the Ram Brewerywas closed and brewing was shifted to C.I.'s., and was unimpressed. On-tap it is much better. I need to hit C.I.'s more often, especially during happy hour.

Served in a 20oz pilsner glass, the beer is dark brown with a tan collar. Awesome lacing. This is a good looking beer.
Nice nose of dark fruits, toasty grains and brown sugar.
The taste is slightly smoky and sweet. There is underlying molasses based sweetness. Becomes slightly nutty as it warms (minor bitch, why do they serve this one in a chilled glass?). Minor perfume hop notes late.
The mouth is solidly workmanlike. This is a sessionable porter and the best beer of the night.

On tap at C.I. Shenanigan' served in a frosted pint glass.
Pours a black walnut color and is nearly opaque. A foamy two-finger two-tone tan head forms and is mildly resilient. Nice color all the way around.
The smell is faint, mostly a roasted grain smell.
There is a coffee flavor in the beer, with a little chocolate along side. There is a smoky finish and a mildly bitter after taste.
Mouth feel is smooth but a little thin and watery for a porter.
This is a very drinkable beer. It;s light for as dark as it is, and quite sessionable. I'd have it again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
