Came in a goblet a clear rich amber with lacey off white head atop, really nice clarity and richness in color.Candied fruit and mild coffee in the nose, you can tell the coffee is there but it's on the lighter side.Quite fruity on the palate with a bit of a sweet alcohol zing, the coffee flavors peak thru a little in the finish and becomes more pronounced as I drank more. Not overly complex but but a flavorful Belgian dark.

An interesting collaboration between Saranac and the Utica Coffee Roasting Co. In order to get the full benefit of the coffee essence, Java-Nac should be enjoyed at room temperature with a few minutes to settle after the pour.

A collaboration brew between Saranac Brewery and The Utica Roasting Company. A limited release; Belgium Strong Dark Ale. Not overly impressed with the flavor. Not the typical coffee beer (stout). Saranac is brewing in the proper direction when it comes to the Belgium Ale; this was a refreshing take on a coffee beer. My first sips were strong and on the sour side. After allowing the brew to warm a bit; the aroma of the hops and the coffee were stronger yet did not change the taste much.

This beer is available on tap locally at this time. Utica, NY area.
