12 oz. bottle tried 31 May 2008.
Small tan head. Dark black color, opaque. Smells chocolatey, roasty, like molasses and burnt raisins. Some chocolate and coffee to start and through the middle. Moderately sweet to the finish. Lingering earthy aftertaste is a bit off putting. Medium creamy body. Moderate alcohol.
A's final comment: 'Stupid b!#&h' (referring to the waitress who gave us this six pack to take home when we ordered the porter and we didn't notice until Albuquerque).

Appearance: opaque black body. soft smooth off white head. looks like nitro but it isn't.
Smell: aroma is very malty with some hints of cherry and licorice. molasses notes as well.
Taste: primarily dark malt with mild coffee notes. some earthiness. well toasted white bread.
Mouthfeel: noticeably very smooth. it's lager traits show off in this category. medium bodied. excellent for the style.
Drinkability: Extremely easy drinking. one of the best black lagers I have had. highly recommended if you can find it
