I'm pretty sure this is the only stout you can find in SA other than Guinness. It really is a great beer that should not be confined to the typical confines of stout-hood. This is a very diverse stout for all occasions.
A: Deep black with a little blood red. Rich, creamy head. Impressive for a carbonated beer
S: Sweet nose with subtle coffee and bitter undertones.
T: Starts with a light coffee, finishes strong like a Pale Ale. A really diverse range of flavors that work well together.
D: Impressively drinkable for a stout. 2 or 3 as a max.

Had in bottle and on tap at the brewery in the Waterfront,Cape Town
...Pours dark dark brown-black
...medium white stuff, lacing is more than exceptable
....low roastiness and balanced -- delicous stuff.
Flavour is very welcoming, a good session stout that has a taste that will win many over!
..makes a BeUtIfuL! black and tan + black and honey!!!

Poured from a 1.5L plastic bottle.
The color is dark with a strongly red tint. The very thin, lightly colored head quickly dissipates.
The smell is weak but has hints of malt and sweetness. The taste is very malty with significant bitterness to balance the sweetness and has a slightly smoky finish. The taste is initially a little harsh but mellows with time.
The mouthfeel is smooth with very mild carbonation and finishes very cleanly. While the beer is not an overwhelming winner on taste I could see drinking it on a regular basis, particularly given the options in South Africa.

Had this one at the Mitchell's pub on the waterfront in Cape Town - proud to be the first to review it:
Appearance: This one is as black as they come, completely opaque. Miniscule head that disappeared quickly, no lacing to speak of. Very striking appearance - "black as a raven's wing," true to advertising.
Smell: roasted malt, and a somewhat vegetative hop aroma
Taste: a well balanced sweet stout, hard to tell if more bitterness is being contributed by the dark malts or from the hops. That said, not very complex - a straightforward beer.
Mouthfeel is very smooth, full-bodied. good finish and aftertaste. This is a good session stout - not overdone in any way, you're not tired of it after one pint. Solid offering!
This was sampled at the Cape Town location on 5/31, review entered from notes.
