This is like somebody's homebrew that was supposed to start out as an IPA but wound up being an over malted bastard of some kind. 12 oz bottle poured into Stella goblet:
L - Copper/amber overall. Very short head, with almost no retention.
S - devoid of anything interesting
T - WAY too much malt for me. Sort of metallic, thin and one dimensional
F - Very thin. Almost like water. Little head, very light mouth feel. Leaves nothing on the tongue.
O - wish I hadn't bought this. Oh well ... its drinkable but I really don't like it.

Poured from bottle to pint glass.
Appearance. Good ruby color. Looks like a red ale, not quite as deep as a Hobgoblin. Has a nice, thick, lingering off white but almost white head with plenty of lacing.
Taste. Malt up front, good amount of hops in the back. Hop biterness is lingering.
Smell. Smells like malt and hops, it's a simple beer and smells like beer.
Body. Medium to light body, plenty of carbonation.
Overall. Tastes like an Ale. It's good but not GREAT. Try Wynchwood Brewery's Hobgoblin if you like this and you won't be disappointed. But this is still a good beer in it's own right, I'd like to try it on tap.

Nice Amber color. Light off white head. Subtle smell with faint malt and hops. The malt sweetness comes through nicely. The hops isn't particularly flavorful, but it's actually slightly bitter for my taste. Not a bad beer; I could easily drink all night

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear amber color with a decent enough head that also leaves an adequate amount of lacing behind

Smell: Hints of caramel and grain but not much in the way of aromatics

Taste: Caramel candy, up front, with a bit of grainy husk keeping the sweetness in check
through the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A pleasant enough sipper, particularly if you like a good caramel

A- Pours a dark red color with a half finger light tan head that has poor retention and leaves some spotty lacing behind.

S- Caramel malts dominate everything in the aroma though there are some light fruit like notes and grassy hops finish.

T- Again, caramel malts dominate the flavor with the finish mostly grassy hops and light caramel malts.

M- A medium mouth feel with a medium-high carbonation.

D- Meh. A drinkable Amber but nothing to wow you or make you seek it out again. Typical underwhelming flavor that I have come to expect from the brand.

Pours to a thin but permanent white head and no lacing. Color is a dull brown amber. Aroma has some pleasing caramel and sweet malt notes and faint earthy hops. Flavor is clean and steely with caramel sweetness and a harsh bitterness. Mouthfeel is chalky and rough and parching. On the balance it is rather average. Might go well with food but by itself it just lays there and chafes the palate.

Beautiful rich red orange. Very clean. Nice head that doesn't last.

It has an interesting smell. I'm not sure what it is.

The taste is like a hop that is already peaking and leaves a bitter, medicine finish.

The mouthfeel is like a soft wave that's sliding up a shore.

Sweetiness up front along with slight bitter hops. Sweet grainy, slight toasted. Hop bitterness is spicy.

Light bodied, very crisp. Well carbonated.

Crisp and spicy finish.

My fiance and I go to the Rahr Brewery tour all time and I try this every once in a while. I tried this last time and I thought it was just okay. The beer pours a redish brown color with a kind of thick head. On the nose I am getting some caramel and malt and not much else. The taste is sort of like the taste. I get a good amount of caramel, some sweetness and malt. Not really much there though. The beer is pretty easy to drink and has a decent amount of carbonation. Overall I think this is a decent beer and I see it as a beer that would get the average person into craft beer.

Had this on tap at and took a few notes on my iPhone.

Appearance-Clear Reddish/Brown with no head at all. No retention and no lacing, looks like colored water.

Smell-Bready and Sour.

Taste- Bready and Caramel malts, light spice. Sour as hell, just doesn't go well together.

Mouthfeel-light bodied, watery.

Overall-Went to the bathroom and poured half of it out. I've yet to find a good offering from Rahr and Sons and with some pretty good ambers around why would anyone drink this?

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, I picked this up from Central Market in Fort Worth while we were staying with a friend. The beer pours a clearish red-auburn-brown colorwith a thin film of head that is white and small bubbled. The nose is caramel and sugary sweet. Roasted caramel flavors with a smokey end taste. The flavors remind me of the toffees they serve at maple syrup shacks throughout Vermont and Canada. Decent mid-dry body, with a caramel and syrupy sweet aftertaste. Sneaky diminishing finish, as the flavors kind of water out.

On Tap at DFW.

I think that this is being poorly scored because it is an amber lager (according to their website), not an amber ale as it is categorized here.

A--Beautiful burnt amber color and a frothy head.

S--Nice caramel malty aroma.

T--Middle of the road, slight roasty with a little hops in a crisp finish.

M--Thinner than I would like, but I don't drink a lot of lager.

O--Definitely a brew targeted against the Shiner Bock market here, and it definitely delivers. Best brew I've found in DFW.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Many thanks go out to AttitudeBrew for this Texas bottle!

A- Pours a dark red color with a hint of haze to it. Half finger light tan head shows poor retention and leaves some spotty lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Caramel malts dominate everything in the aroma. Some light fruit like notes and grassy hops finish up the aroma profile on this beer.

T- Caramel malts in the aroma dominates the flavor in the entire beer. Middle of the beer has some light fruity flavors. Ending of the beer is mostly grassy hops and light caramel malts.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Caramel malts with hints of darker fruits left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly alcohol, caramel malts, and darker fruits. Flavors were pretty well balanced for the style. No real off flavors were present in this one. Medium alcohol drying on the palate.

D- Lower ABV makes this one a nice drinker. I don't really care for ambers to be honest but this one really surprised me. I do like this beer and would love to have it again.

I poured a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass...

The liquid was brown with maroon hues, there was an off white head that clung to the glass and left some lacing.

It smells of caramel malt, toast, and butter.

I could taste buttered biscuits and some herbal hops, there is a lemony accent with a bready, dry finish.

This beer is light, soft and smooth, there is a slight bite on the sides of the tongue.

I usually don't go for ambers but this one is well balanced between hops and malt and it's not too sweet. I think it's better than most typical ambers.

Poor start to this beer as it comes out of the bottle in an unimpressive fashion. The rusty brown color is muted by some haze but is mostly clear. The head is not only unimpressive but also non-existent. While there are some delicate bubbles coming up they never materialize in a suddsy head. Lame.

The nose is better but not much past average. There is some toasted, caramelized grains and your general run of the mill beer/ yeasty scent. It's mild but not very memorable.

What can I say... this is a good middle of the road brew. The taste is mild with the same caramel and toasted grain notes found in the nose. It's not bad but also not great. I am teetering on the verge of giving this a 3.5 but passed because the flavor finishes with a cheap beer twang. It's almost like buffalo butt was brewed with good ingredients but fermented with used coors light yeast.

Mouthfeel is where this B.Butt shines. It's crisp and bubbly with a fantastic combination of light bitterness and firm carbonation. The finish is moist and quenching making it a pleasure to drink despite the average showing everywhere else. A low review for an average beer but this is one I'd order again. It's got some taste, is easy to drink and very refreshing. It's not amazing but a solid simple beer worth trying.

Pours a hazy amber with a small beige head that recedes almost immediately to a small collar with no lacing.

Aroma is pretty basic with some fruity sweetness, caramel and hints of smoky roasted malts.

Taste is really disappointing with a watery caramel sweetness and some roasted character. Pretty bland flavor.

Mouthfeel is watery and thin with low carbonation.

This is a below average amber with very little flavor and extremely watery feel. Not recommended.

Pours a dark red color with a white head. The aroma is mainly caramel malt. The flavor is caramel malt and toffee with some earthy hop flavor and bitterness. There is also some nuttyness in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and slightly creamy with low carbonation.

A - Poured an amber color with a tan head that tries to leave lacing

S - Is very light some malt but not much of anything

T - I've drank more than half the bottle trying to say what it taste like but its escaping me other than not very good some maltiness is there but not very good

M - This beer has a thin watery body with medium carbonation to it

D - Yet another below average beer from Rahr I'm glad I got my last two bottles of theirs for free because I'd be pissed if I paid for this stuff buy a better beet this just isn't worth it

Interesting label, if not altogether appetizing. Nothing says delicious beer like a buffalo's ass! Pours a somewhat clear reddish color with a 1 finger light beige head that displays average retention and some lacing.

Nose is biscuity and a bit caramely with a light fruity edge, maybe some green apples and grapes. Mild hop aroma is a bit grassy.

Alot of toasty bitterness and a fair amount of hop presence cover most of the malt sweetness. It is a bit thin and watery, without much depth of flavors. It's a pretty simple Amber Ale that is pretty easy to throw back a couple of.

Pours reddish-brown with a good sized tah head that sits a bit and fades with some meager chunks of lacing left behind. Smells earthy, malty and metallic. Tastes malty with some sweetness running through. Very mild hops balance things out a bit. Has a light to medium mouth-feel and is well carbonated. Seems to be well crafted overall. There's not a lot going on with this one, but it actually works here, as you could have a few and not get bored. Could this beer possibly suffer ratings-wise due to it's style? Surely not.

Presentation: 12 oz longneck, twistoff. Buffalo ass is prominently featured on the label - "Everything it's cracked up to be." No information about what type of beer this is, or ABV, or a date. How about some info on your label?

Appearance: Slightly hazy amber color, large head with decent retention.

Smell: Fairly plain - a bit of malt, just a little bit of floral hops.

Taste: Meh - this is a very typical amber - not much to distinguish it.

Overall impression: This beer is fine, but nothing to seek out.

Ah, the old Yellow Rose label. This here beer young 'uns, is a reminder of what Texas Micro breweries were all about. Praise God for your fancy "Stone" imports and yummy Live Oak hefes.

A) Clear deep amber brown body holds a dark tan furry head.

S) Nutty caramel malt with an earthy side

T) Good malt backbone but well balanced with mild earthy peppery hops that give great bittering without much flavor. Very well balanced, but in a way that flavors cancel each other out.

M) Light body, very firm fizzy carbonation, dry finish.

D) There's nothing wrong here and I could see an enjoyable afternoon sipping these in the sun, but there's a yawn factor. Mild, well made amber.
