Cat's Eye Lager "was brewed in honor of the Fort Worth Cats baseball team, American Association Championship Winners - 2005, 2006, and 2007" read a quote from Gingerman's of Fort Worth webpage. I found it at Ocean Rock, for Gingerman's was closed for the evening.
Nose:
Light Pilsner-like smell - grainy toasty malt. Grapefruit/apricot/raspberry fruit.
Look:
Medium straw/yellow. Good clarity. Moderate head with poor retention.
Flavor:
Light biscuit malt with nut hues. Hops are more prominent - highly citric and resinous. Fruity edge - mostly in attack and aroma. Good moderately high bitterness. Hop presence is nice and engaging. Tannic, borderline puckering.
Body:
Some fuzzy carbonation on a medium-thin body with a nice bitter pucker.
The Verdict:
A surprisingly fruity and hoppy take on a classic style; very tasty.
