The Lord Cicada is a "One-shot, very hoppy reddish-brown ale brewed to honor our special once-in-17-years pals". Referring, of course, to the currnet (but ebbing) emergence of the awkward, barely flying insect in parts of the east coast.
Had this beer on tap at the brewery. Very solid brown ale that was a muddy, reddish-brown color. Fair amount of cloud in the brew. Little head. Smell was good, not overwhelming, with hints of the hops to come. Taste was almost unique for a brown, far hoppier than most, with a solid, nutty back note. Very good mouthfeel, and very drinkable. All in all a very good brew, and a moving tribute to a species of bug that somehow defies evolution and logic by remaining in existance.
