Appearance: Clear, deep crimson body; large, fast fading off white head; spotty lacing.
Aroma: Spicy, yeasty, dried fruit, caramel.
Taste: Rich malts hold the spotlight complemented by ripe dark fruit and layers of spices.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, moderately carbonated with a long lasting finish. Strength is subtle.
Overall: A really fine example of a regionally made strong dark, that falls just short of the complexity commonly found in its Belgian counterparts (but you are also not spending nearly as much on it).
