(Served on-tap at The Nook in Huntsville during my trip to the south in late August 2009. Notes transcribed verbatim.)
A: Dark brown-amber, thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Darker than expected.
S: Rich, malty, strong with hops. Hints of caramel.
T: Lots of crisp hops, rich, creamy, heavy with alcohol.
M: Creamy, coats the tongue.
D: Very good. Wish I still lived in HSV.
(Well, since I now live a stone's throw from Bell's, that may be a bit of an overstatement. But this is a very nice DIPA, and a nice marker for what Alabama breweries are capable of now that the Hops have been Freed. I'll definitely have it again next time I'm in town.)

The Olde Towne beers had been pretty lackluster to me, but this one is the exception.
Had this one on tap at The Nook in Huntsville. Dark unclouded amber with minimal head or lacing. Lots of citrusy hops aroma but surprisingly well balanced for a DIPA with some malt sweetness on the finish.
Would never have known this beer was 10% abv as it went down really smooth with no alcohol burn or aroma. Very easy to drink for a high alc beer.

Had on tap at Brinley Bros. The first high gravity beer I bought in Alabama.
Pours a dark amber, with a small about of lacing. No particulary strong aroma, but some citrusy hops noticable.
I'm far from an expert on DIPAs, but this is the maltiest one I've tried yet. Like all the other Olde Towne beers I've had, it's a little overcarbonated. Alcohol pretty noticable as I finished my pint.
Probably my least favorite of the DIPAs I've tried, but still a very good beer.

A: Golden amber with a thick, creamy head. Nice lacing all the way down the glass with excellent head retention.
S: Great aroma. Loads of citrus and floral hops, totally unbalanced and over the top--just how I like it.
T&M: Snappy citrus flavor, some floral and herbal hop flavor. There's a cracker-like malt that adds some balance, but this one is all about the hops. Body is medium to heavy with a zesty carbonation. Well done, Olde Towne.
D: For a 10% ABV DIPA, this is quite drinkable. There's enough balance to keep things drinkable and nice. Methinks this is, at present, the best DIPA produced in Alabama.
